Oz The Great and Powerful is the number one movie in America at the moment as it tells the story of how Oz got to Oz. The film stars James Franco as Oz who, after a Tornado, is taken to Oz where he is seen as the great Wizard who will stop the wicked witch. Overall the movie delivered on its goals, as it serves as a nice prequel and sets up a sequel nicely. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
If you are going into this expecting anything but a kids movie with plenty of holes you will be sadly disappointed. This is a kids movie, first and foremost as evident by its incredibly "wow that was pretty dang convenient" so if you cannot get over that fact then do not see this movie.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
James Franco was actually good in this movie, which is shocking because the only other movie I have seen him in where he did a good job acting in was Pineapple Express because well he played a stoner and the guy always looks like a stoner. Yes I saw 127 hours, and no I couldnt get past the stupid expression he had on his face the entire time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie spends some time in Kansas before going to Oz, however this small time in Kansas is necessary as it sets up Oz the character and others. There are some great parallels between the characters from both places, and it works out nicely. For instance the little girl, his assistant, and "the one that got away" all have parts in Oz which is a positive for the film in my book. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Once he gets to Oz he first meets Mila Kunis and then goes on his way. I will not spoil anything, but the scenes with these 2 really work as the background with Oz in Kansas nicely sets up what will happen when he is with Mila.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Oz then goes on his journey, and picks up companions along the way towards his ultimate goal of getting all that gold! The movie really picks up when he meets the doll. I mean honestly she steals the movie with every scene she is in. From the moment you meet her you cannot help but feel bad for this doll and then she just owns every moment she is in. The fact that she was voiced by the same girl from Kansas is just icing on the cake. The flying monkey is hilarious as well, so they do a good job of balancing each other out. The supporting cast is just awesome. Everyone he meets on the way serves a purpose, especially the town outside of the Emerald City it was nicely done.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie moves along at a nice pace, the reveal is predictable but hey it is a kids movie so you will forgive that. The movie then leads up to characters changing who they are and becoming what they thought was impossible to become. It harkens back to the theme of the original movie and is nicely done. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The final battle also tries to do a bit of a twist, but again it is predictable and does not come as a twist at all. However that doesnt stop the final battle from still being full of emotion and character redemption/growth.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie did a great job of building up this characters you want to cheer for, however like most kids movies the motives of the villians are unclear at times at worst and at best incredibly simple.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first Oz was highly regarded because of its technicolor, however this movie's special effects leave much to be desired. It is almost as if they were not sure if this movie would be profitable so they did not go all out on the graphics which look pretty fake at times. It is a shame as there were plenty of opportunities to do it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are looking for a nice fun kids movie about redemption go see Oz, it does a great job of doing that. However being a fun kids movie does not make it a good movie overall, as there are several way too convenient and flat out dumb moments done by characters. Warning Spoilers: For instance Glinda just happens to be in the dark forest for well no real reason, Theodora doesnt realize a bunch of flying monkeys coming in and out of the city? honestly? These people living outside the emerald city in oz have a shield to protect them against wickedness and Glinda is clearly flying in and out and yet NO ONE IN THE EMERALD CITY BEFORE OZ ARRIVED SEEMS TO EVER HEAR ABOUT THIS!. End Spoilers.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h2>
Overall the movie is a fun kids movie about character redemption and finding out who you are, while done better in Wreck it Ralph this movie was still fun. However due to the holes I will give it a 7.</h2>

<br />
Lincoln was done phenomenally well and unlike the other historical films, Argo and Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln had a wide range of material for which it could be based on and that also put a responsibility on Stephen to go through and pick out what he wanted. SS did a great job directing this movie and putting everything together.<br />
<br />
What I liked: Everything in the movie(aside from the end) was just outstanding. The music. The acting. The fact checks for history. The plot. Everything was just outstanding. Historical movies sometimes suffer from the whole "oh really how does it end"? syndrome in which we know how it ends. However Lincoln did a fantastic job making us care about everything. Daniel Day Lewis did a fantastic job in the movie, just go watch it and you will be amazed at how wonderful of a job he did portraying Lincoln. Sally Field was amazing as well, and I am biased against his wife to begin with because of history, but she was outstanding in the movie. Even his cabinet actors and the congressman did an outstanding job, especially Tommy Lee Jones. The actors portraying the congressman who were opposed to the passage also did an amazing job, I mean you genuinely hated those people. They were outstanding.<br />
<br />
The movie was pretty accurate in terms of history as well, all the events and whatnot was very true to form. Now I know the dialogue is embellished a bit, but it worked out well and you have to give SS some leeway here.<br />
<br />
The movie was sprinkled throughout with Lincoln stories, and does a good job of showing that this man had immense pressure on him and came through. It also does a great job of showing that Lincoln was not perfect, that not everything he did was amazing. It showed some genuine issues with him that you can only imagine what today's press would have exposed.<br />
<br />
But most of all the movie did a great job showing lincoln the father. It showed his family, it showed his heartbreak, it showed everything that helped us sympathize with the character.<br />
<br />
What I didnt like:<br />
<br />
My only complaint about the movie is it should have ended 10 minutes sooner, when he puts his gloves down. The movie trailed off after that, and we dont need to see his son crying, or his wife mourning, or a funeral. We all know how it ends( <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2012/12/07/kobe-lakers-lincoln/1754283/">Unless you are the Lakers</a>).<br />
<br />
<h2>
Lincoln was a good movie, and deserved more awards. I give this a 9/10. </h2>

<br />
The movie prides itself as being a suspenseful thriller with an intellectual aspect and twists before arriving at the ultimate end.<br />
<br />
What I liked: I liked the acting, first and foremost. Jude law is fantastic in it, as always, and you genuinely feel his pain throughout much of the movie. The movie also has good pacing, as I think it was the perfect length and it moved along nicely and didnt drag too long on any one point. Channing Tatum did not really have much to do in this movie, which could be good. Rooney Mara continues to prove that she is a good actress, with this and the girl series under her belt she has proven to be a very capable actress.<br />
<br />
I also liked the supporting characters throughout, even the attorney, the wife, and kid did a decent job of at least putting everything into perspective. Every character had a purpose and everyone did a good job fulfilling that purpose.<br />
<br />
What I did not like: The movie tried far too hard to be a great thriller, but after the first hour you knew exactly where it was going and it turned into a typical movie. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it really took away from the tone. I mean it was painfully obvious, then the movie told you, and then it just kept with it. It felt as if the movie was building towards an end it never quite achieved, not to mention the wtf moments like jude law still being allowed to be the shrink to rooney mara and him not really suffering from the loss of income.<br />
<br />
I also saw this with my girlfriend, on a scale of loved it, eh or i hated it it got an "eh"<br />
<br />
<h2>
This movie tries to be something that it ultimately failed at being, I give this a 6/10</h2>

And to be honest rightfully so.<br />
<br />
This movie is vastly overrated int he minds of just about everyone who saw it when they were younger. It is meant to be a kid movie, however it goes on for far too long and leaves much to be desired at the end while resorted to lazy storytelling.<br />
<br />
What I liked: I loved the special effects. The dinosaurs, the setting, everything in the movie was done with attention to detail and they spared no expenses with effects. It really was astonishing that even all this time the effects stand the test of time. That really was all that I found enjoyable in the movie.<br />
<br />
What I did not like: The acting was terrible, particularly the kids. The kids repeatedly made stupid decisions to advance the plot, which was also bad. Also you know a storm might be coming, why not delay the visit of the kids? I understand the lawyer but the kids honestly just push it back! And the fat guy just decides it would be a good idea to shut down all the power systems, in the midst of a storm, while kids are there? I find it hard to believe the party giving him 1.5 mil couldnt just wait. Also the ending was incredibly predictable and did nothing of any sort that was noteworthy. Mix in cheesy dialogue and you have a real stinker.<br />
<br />
<h2>
The special effects saved this movie, however I would give it a 4/10, as everything else just brought it down. </h2>

This might be the most confusing movie I have ever seen, and it does not explain too much. After you watch it, just google it and you will want to rewatch it.<br />
<br />
What I liked:<br />
<br />
I liked the narration of the movie, it set a nice suspenseful tone. I also liked the science for everything and the convoluted story could allow for many viewings to try and figure out everything.<br />
<br />
What I did not like:<br />
<br />
The characters, the rushed pace of everything, the acting, and the production costs. So essentially everything else. The characters were not really fleshed out nor were there interests and the kid was very seldom referenced, as were the 2 other original members of the group. The acting was just bad on all levels and that does not have to be the case in a low budget movie. The movie was essentially a "have power, they lose it" but without any character development to get me to care about really anyone in the movie. It was an 80 minute bleh movie with some complicated time travel aspects to try and overcompensate for a general lack of poor plot, character development, and acting.<br />
<br />
<h2>
I give this low budget movie a 5/10</h2>

This was seen as a tragedy by most so I ended up watching it with a group of friends. It was better than I expected to be quite perfectly honest.<br />
<br />
The movie has truly held the test of time, as the suspense was built throughout with the music and superb camera angles. It is no wonder why this movie helped launch Spielberg's career. Also a movie that has been parodied so many times and originated so many references has to be fondly thought of. For instance it was nice to finally understand what so many people are referencing with the creepy old man in the room drawing attention to himself, bad hat harry, and we are going to need a bigger boat.<br />
<br />
What I liked:<br />
<br />
As has already been stated I liked the camera angles in the movie. The underwater shots with Jaws helped add to the suspense and gravity of the situation. The music was very well recognizable and did a great job of building the mood of the scene. What Spielberg did a great job of doing was realizing you do not need to show the villian of a horror film in order to establish the threat level of him. To be honest I thought the shark was most menacing when we did not see him, the movie did a wonderful job of building the suspense.<br />
<br />
The acting was cheesy at times, however that was more of the era the film was shot in. The main character was your typical hero, off to do the right thing and always does his best because of some moral standard he possesses.<br />
<br />
What I did not like:<br />
<br />
The supporting cast was eh, the shark "expert" was a bumbling fool throughout the entire movie after his initial inspection. I mean that guy cannot hold on to ANYTHING in water. Also the mayor was just illogically dumb whenever it was convenient to advance the story.<br />
<br />
I also felt the movie was about 30 minutes too long. They should have cut some stuff out, most of the "shark is in the pond" scene could have been avoided if they would not have relied on such lazy methods to keep the story going. The scenes on the boat were well done, however you could have wiped out one singing scene and probably cut a good 5-10 minutes off the hour they are there. Also why did they bring the old boat instead of the new superior one?<br />
<br />
<h2>
Jaws was good and the dialogue provided many timeless references and built good suspense, however the movie lasted too long and relied on some lazy plot elements to advance the story. I give it a 8/10.</h2>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Things I liked:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie follows Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe primarily throughout the movie with a cat and mouse game, however because of the amazing character development and plot movements early on this is disguised and you genuinely feel for Hugh Jackman and sympathize with the character. Hugh Jackman is outstanding in it, and does a great job of delivering his lines through song while using great facial expressions. Likewise, Russell Crowe is a great villian who develops throughout the movie.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie starts off with Hugh Jackman as a prisoner who is released on parole and then skips town after a turn of events. His character(as stated above) is outstanding, and he meets up with Anne Hathaway whose struggles are documented throughout the movie to the point which some were reduced to tears. Hathaway also does a fantastic job in the movie, as there is nothing but raw emotion in her character and she does great to further the plot along.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The story was also convincing, while there are some complaints about it the overall journey and triumph of each and every character was really well done and justified. The movie does have slight pacing issues and does repeat the story a little bit, however the pros do outweigh the cons. I cannot go into detail without spoiling something, however you truly do care about the characters and the resolution at the end.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Even the supporting characters of Borat and Helen Bonham Carter are entertaining and serve a purpose throughout the movie. Along with the kid at the end, and the priest at the beginning these supporting characters throughout only help add to the movie.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And of course I loved the music used throughout the movie. The delivery was great by the actors/actresses and the continuous uses of certain aspects throughout was very well done.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What I did not like:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are certain things you can do with a movie that you cannot do with a play. A play is limited to a stage, a movie is not. Therefore during a play when a character is on the other side of the stage and singing about the two characters you just assume that they cannot hear her and go with it. In a movie, you could put that character elsewhere and just shoot back to them. It is a minor complaint but there were many times a person woudl be singing right by a group of people who would not hear her.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also, singing every. single. line. throughout the entire movie was just too much, the music was not nearly as good as the big songs and detracted away from the power of some of the scenes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The entire french uprising sequence was just terrible, throughout the entire movie you have great characters developed throughout and then you do not care about the french revolution at all. It also starts off with ANOTHER gap in years with Crowe finding Jackman. Its like really? We JUST saw that done. None of the characters aside from the kid are developed, and the love story is worse than a comic book love story. No spoilers here, but it is "I saw her, I love her time to risk everything for her." I am sorry but if you are nominated for an oscar you should not have that in a movie, this isnt Dredd, this isnt Spider-man, this is Les Miserables. Also, someone with a bullet wound is being dragged through the sewers and is covered with feces, but is FINE! That makes no sense. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My Girlfriends take: Ranked from Love it, eh, Bad she gave it a Loved it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h2>
Overall Les Miserables does a great job of setting up its scenes and delivering a believable plot with good character development. However it ultimately has one glaring hole in it which does harm it. I give this movie a 8/10.</h2>

<br />
Dredd was a nice fun action movie that you can grab a pizza and a beer and watch.<br />
<br />
It starts off with Dredd taking on a girl with psychic powers on a tiral run to see if she is ready to become a judge. The girl failed the tests but due to her powers she is getting a second chance.<br />
<br />
The movie does a good job of setting up the world, and for a 90 minute movie to expect more is ridiculous. It starts off with a pretty cool action scene and does not stop.<br />
<br />
If you are looking for a movie with a well developed complex plot, with character development, and the like go elsewhere. This is an 80s action flick that delivers.<br />
<br />
I will not summarize the movie however Dredd and the girl get caught up in an apartment complex with the main villian who is developed decently well for an action movie, however you never think she is actually going to kill Dredd as she alone is not too powerful but has powerful allies which come in.<br />
<br />
The movie does a good job of touching on some social issues such a drug use, poverty, and other behavior that some who have nothing might be forced to do when they have no other options. There was also some pretty entertaining scenes between the psychic and just about everyone and her powers are put to good use throughout and not ignored and relied upon for lazy story telling.<br />
<br />
There are some nice shooting scenes in the film, along with some good dialogue for an action movie and some pretty funny scenese as well. The movie itself doesnt really have any dead time, as it cannot afford it with its runtime, and that works to their benefit as the entire movie is a nonstop action thrill.<br />
<br />
<h2>
This was a nice good action movie that should be seen by those wanting a fun action flick for the night with a beer and pizza, I give it a 8/10</h2>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03927798787090090088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-569347525533093366.post-64945676737884422752013-01-28T08:47:00.001-08:002013-01-28T10:33:15.267-08:00Zero Dark Thirty ReviewI am reviewing every single movie I see this year, whether it came out this year or not, and whether or not I have previously seen it.<br />
<br />
Zero Dark thirty is getting a lot of oscar buzz, however I did not see why. The characters throughout the film are not really developed and tends to drag during certain parts.<br />
<br />
The first 30-45 minutes of the movie are torture, or as my dad kept correcting me enhanced interrogation, this is done to show that torture does work while interrogating people and is constantly referenced throughout the entire movie. I felt this part was well paced and accomplished what it set out to do.<br />
<br />
The main character is a bitch who has one goal and that is to find osama. This works, as she shuts herself out from having friends or relationships and is completely committed to the task at hand and everything a CIA agent should be.<br />
<br />
The movie suffers in the middle portion though, and this is why I feel it was good but not great. The entire middle part is essentially a list of all the historical events that occured during the time when the hunt started and when it ends. It felt more like I was watching a history channel documentary than a movie at some times, and this is why I felt it is not oscar worthy. For instance there are many times when they set up a historical scene, show it, followed by the reaction of the characters and them coming to the conclusion "lets try to find him..HARDER!" Also we all know what is coming, but setting up the actual ending(the seals barging in) took way too long in my opinion, the pacing of the movie could have been better.<br />
<br />
The ending was fantastically done however, when the SEALS went in there you know what was going to happen but it was riveting. I will not summarize everything, but they do act like how SEALS act so they were true to form. They did not leave out any of the details, and it was great.<br />
<br />
<h2>
Overall I would give the movie a 7.5/10, good, but not great. The pacing was just too off for me and it felt like a historical documentary at times instead of a film. </h2>

It is not a noticeably scary show however more of a mystery show.<br />
<br />
This episode however focused on Henry moreso than Jane and developed the character Nona a little more. This episode had 2 main story arcs and the sub arc involving the suitcase that Jane stumbled upon in the previous episode.<br />
<br />
The main story arc of the two was Henry and Gavin's conflict that arose due to the investigation into Gavin's affairs. I felt this was a little far-fetched for starters and was poorly developed. Henry's decisions come with very little to no character develop whatsoever. We saw him make a choice with his back up against the wall, however I doubt what his employers wanted him to do was break into Gavin's place and illegally seize material. Also the adolescent teen boy hides his indecent material on his parents computer better than Gavin hides potentially damaging business deals. This made no sense, that someone as intelligent as Gavin would just conveniently have a file on his laptop labeled "Greenpoint Towers." Also while Henry making the decision to obtain this by illegal means was not likely, it was very likely that he would leave part of it behind for Gavin to magically find. Again, a very predictable outcome with your typical "hero" and "villian" conflict. This story was the least interesting until the end which will be addressed, but first it is necessary to talk about the second story line, that of Nona's.<br />
<br />
I was happy to finally see a resolution with the Drake thief, yes it occurred conveniently however at this point if you have not suspended the belief that everyone will conveniently run into each other in the lobby you should just stop watching, it will happen as these people are all running around all the time and it is perfectly reasonable for someone to stop and talk to the receptionist about losing her sunglasses. However what I find hard to believe is that Nona would conveniently wear them just minutes after stealing it, this is just careless on her part however it did further the story line, albeit by a lazy method. I am willing to give this more leniency than Henry's story line partly because I just wanted it to advance finally. It was nice to get some information about Nona's background, which I wont delve into because I am trying to review and not summarize so much. Once all the items were being returned everything was better, and Rachel got a nice bit of information from Nona which contributed to the good conclusion.<br />
<br />
The conclusion brought us back to last weeks story with the writer who whatever she writes comes true, it was nice to see this bleed over into this weeks story and it was nice to see what Gavin got from the deal, surely someone who could write any story and it be real could be very helpful, especially in this case when he is feuding with Henry's boss. The warning by Nona to Rachel really strengthened their relationship, as it came true and now Rachel knows a little more about her and can relate to her because of being separated from her parents. This was a nice and fitting conclusion, you saw Henry come to his senses which was within character, Gavin to say "oh well he made one mistake"(convenient answer), and Rachel to develop her relationship with Nona.<br />
<br />
It was nice to see the suitcase finally get opened however, although you have to feel bad for the little girl since she just did not want him out. It also was nice to see the Drake controlling other people and transporting them or making them do stuff to people besides Rachel. It is truly powerful and most people do not even remember. It could bring about the question is Gavin in charge of the Drake or is the Drake in charge of Gavin?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left: 1.0in; mso-add-space: auto;">
<span style="font-size: 20pt; line-height: 115%;">This episode used some
very convenient methods of storytelling to advance a plot(I am not holding the
seeing everyone in the lobby as an excuse) I still think it was a weak episode
for the series so I will have to give it an 6.0/10.</span><span style="font-size: 20.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br />
My main complaint about Miles has been he lacks a rogue gallery and each new issue that fails to capitalize on this will suffer in my mind. I really do not see where Marvel is going with this series at the moment, although it appears they want to make him a member of the Ultimates, however my question then becomes why? Why have Spider-man fighting the same exact villians every single hero in the Ultimate Universe is fighting at the moment.<br />
<br />
The series started off strong with the Prowler and had some pretty powerful moments, but this issue just continues the sub par storytelling that just keeps being compounded month in and month out. It took them how many issues just to get him to become a member of the Ultimates at a time when they should just be accepting everyone?<br />
<br />
Miles is a likeable character, as this issue showed with some nice one liners and inter dialogue that made everyone love Peter, however him being Spider-man really needs to be fleshed out. I felt like I was reading an Ultimates issue, not a Spider-man issue.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 22pt; line-height: 115%;">Overall
I give this comic a 3/10, it had a contrived plot, a random villian
arbtitrarily thrown in to fix his dumb decision which was incredibly cliche,
and failed to develop spider-man outside of the Ultimates.</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 22.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

It might be the funniest show on television and while you do not need to understand football to understand it, for instance I have friends who hate sports but love the show, it would enhance it.<br />
<br />
This episode started off really strong and the main story lines were Kevin and Jenny's choice as to whether or not to give Chalupa a circumcision and Pete's whole waiver and rating system. I thought it transitioned well to get the other characters involved, but these were the main 2 things.<br />
<br />
The whole circumcision thing worked out well in my opinion, it was a bit generic for him to get nervous about his Doctor and his wife, but overall I felt the story worked. Without spoiling too much the ending was well timed and as this show likes to do is bring back jokes in an unexpected way at the end.<br />
<br />
Pete's whole +1 thing was great and could become a thing, I mean really people already do this when they see someone but this places a point value on it. It was a nice twist at the end with Taco, and I especially loved the breakdown of her point value of him at the end. The funniest line was the "Well you know my ex, so you probably know how I am in bed minus 1".<br />
<br />
The Andre jokes were well paced and hit at all the right times, as was the ending with Shhhhhhhhheeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaaaa. It was great to finally find the answer to what is going on with Andre's penis. Yes I just typed that sentence.<br />
<br />
The episode delivered numerous jokes throughout the entire episode and their Jokes per minute was off the charts. These were not just random but were well time jokes that usually hit and related to the overall story. You can tell they set out to tell a funny structured story and it hit in my opinion. I will remember this episode fondly.<br />
<br />

<b><span style="font-size: 20.0pt; line-height: 200%;">Overall, I give this episode a 9.0, it delivered often and
advanced the show into an interesting direction with the line from SHHHEEEVVAA</span></b><b><span style="font-size: 20pt; line-height: 200%;"><o:p></o:p></span></b></div>

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">South
Park "Going Native" Review<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">Every once in awhile
South Park breaks it current trend and goes for a non parody approach that is
built on jokes and a story line involving its characters, and they did so in
this episode.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">The episode started off
very strong with Butters insulting the other boys and channeling his
inner Hawaiian for rage. I do wish we could have seen the fight that
started it all though but oh well every line he delivered was spot on. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">The episode then
transitioned to what I thought were funny bits involving his family, especially
on the correct pronunciation of Hawaii. Also the whole refusal to allow him on
the plane was hillarious,not because he was a child but because they thought he
was intoxicated.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">The Hawaii scenes did not
play out as well as I had hoped however, it all centered on one joke really and
that was these people being natives. It might have clicked for others out there
but it did not really register with me aside from the first time. SP does this
a fair amount and sometimes it works really well, for instance in Sarcastaball
or the shake weight, and sometimes they fall short like here. The parts where
they fought with the Coast Guard were funny, and I cannot believe Butters
killed all those people!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">I did enjoy Kenny's
subplot though, it was nice to see him get a notable inclusion in the episode
and his letters back home were funny, in my opinion anyways. I thought he died
and was surprised to see him wake up in the Elvis place, it was nice he saved
them all though.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">The ending was good as it
showed Butters' main angst came from being jealous of Ben Affleck, a nice way
to end the show.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">I did like that South
Park got away from the parodies and went back to<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span></span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">what got them here, an episode with no real
parodies and an episode built around Butters who has become arguably their 3rd
most popular character for carrying episodes behind Cartman and Randy.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;">Overall I thought this
was a solid episode and would watch it again, however it did not stand out so
much and will not go down as one of the season's stronger episodes. With
comedies it is often hard to rate them, however I will attempt to use a 10
point scale for them as well when taken into account how easy it is to recall
the episode later on. Will I remember this episode greatly if someone mentions
Butters in Hawaii I probably will not recall it that fondly, as I would say
Sarcastaball.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 200%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<b><span style="font-size: 20.0pt; line-height: 200%;">Overall, I give this episode a 7.5, it delivered enough to
be a passable episode but did not break through to that great territory.</span></b><b><span style="font-size: 20pt; line-height: 200%;"><o:p></o:p></span></b></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The search for Danny appeared to be coming to a close with Charlie and the gang close on Neville's track, however first they have to deal with Maggie's death. I was worried the show would drag out this scene however they did a good job of Miles setting Charlie straight about just how close they were to finding Danny and how you cannot afford to sit and mourn. At the time it just seemed like another moment where Miles was nagging on Charlie for being emotional that would not go anywhere, however as the episode went on we learned that was not the case.<br />
<br />
I will break down the episode by character story:<br />
<br />
The main focus of this episode however was Gus, oh I mean Neville. 2 episodes ago when he was barely in it I felt it suffered, Esposito steals any scene he is in and he owned every scene again this week(although I could have done without the image of him shirtless). I particularly like how the show uses flashbacks to enhance the story, and they used it expertly with Neville. It was nice to see him go from being a passive, shy, and someone who opposed violence to being shrewd Captain we all know. The transformation was well done in my opinion and his first reason to kill was similar to Charlie's, and Charlie's mom, family. His family was threatened by his obnoxious neighbor so he resorted to force and in that moment he realized what he needed to do for the safety of his family. It was a powerful moment that I thought the show did very well.<br />
<br />
Also in Neville's story Danny came through, I especially liked him essentially telling Neville to screw off and quit it with the mind games. This kid really annoyed me in the first episode but slowly his character is growing on me.<br />
<br />
Charlie, Miles, and Nora set out to get Danny into the town and do so undetected for the most part. While Charlie has been a weak point for me it was nice to see her fool Neville the first time. However he going after Neville instead of seeking out Miles was just stupid. I know she is an emotional character but still you would think by now she would have learned to listen to Miles. Miles conveniently comes through and saves her in his typical Han Solo/80s action star badassery. However her mistake of being noticed cost them in the long run.<br />
<br />
Nora on the other hand was by far the weakest part of this episode. She sought out a resistance guy and reasons that killing Danny is a good idea. Yes, she reasons that the person she signed on to save was worth killing so a few officers would die. Somehow she forgot that Miles, the former second in command, left and the militia did fine but these no named officers will effect Monroe's army! That made no sense at all, I was thankful she was stabbed however she did end up changing her mind which essentially made her whole plot worthless and just an excuse to stab her.<br />
<br />
The train scene was well done, I bet Gus went in there and said "They had a train scene in breaking bad this season, put it in!" Okay that probably did not occur, but still the scene was well done with some good reveals.<br />
<br />
I am happy the show shifted from the prison jumping thing and now will advance the whole Rachel/Monroe plot more. I also thought it was nice how Charlie realized the full consequences of her actions and seemed determined not to pout, cry, or carry on but instead to continue the search. It showed that perhaps she is advancing as a character and actually listening to Miles.<br />
<br />
The scenes with Rachel/Monroe were more of the same until the end, however she will finally started to reveal something about the necklaces. Also the reveal of Jason as his son made sense and was obvious throughout the episode, but now I actually care about the character of Jason after originally disdaining him.<br />
<br />
Overall I felt the episode did a good job of keeping me(and hopefully others) hooked with questions to consider going forward and it delivered a strong narrative. While there was some dead time with Nora and in another way Aaron did nothing, it delivered probably the strongest episode of the season.<br />
<br />
<h2>
Overall I would give it an 8/10</h2>
